Suckers can grow out of control on some plants, producing multiple crowns on an otherwise single crown specimen. They deform the symmetry of a plant and usually hinder blooming. Maintaining consistent care and attention is a good way to avoid having a sucker problem, and monitoring your plants closely and hands-on is usually the only way to catch suckers before they become a problem.
